My May Ipsy Bag

So I know that this is a little late, but my Ipsy bag was accidently sent to my old address in Pennsylvania, so it took me a while to sort it out, but it finally came today! This is my first Glam Bag, as I am a new subscriber, and I was very impressed. Ipsy is $10/Month, and you get about $50 worth of products, so that’s pretty cool. Here’s what I go this month. (Clockwise from right to left)

The theme of the bag this month is Jet Setter, so this bag was supposed to be perfect for travel. It’s so cute! Anyone who knows me can testify that the statement on the bag is totally appropriate for me. Also, it is the perfect size and can fit in my purse.

The thing that I am most excited about is my Glamglow Thirsty Cleanse Daily Hydrating Mud to Foam cleanser. I have heard great things, and I have never had a mud cleanser before, so I can’t wait to try this guy out.

The next things that I got were two Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing patches for your eyes. I have not heard of this brand before, but the products are cornflower based, which is meant to sooth your skin. We’ll see!

I was super excited about my Luxie 205 Tapered Blending Brush. I always can use more blending brushes, and this one is great quality. It is super fluffy so it is great for blending eyeshadow into my crease.

Next, I got a Jessie’s Girl pigment in the Shade Brown SugarThis shade is a matte brown. I usually don’t like loose eye-shadows as they tend to be really messy, but I am looking forward to giving this one a try.

Lastly, I recieved an Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Thickening and Strengthening Mousse. Hair Mousse is a product I rely on everytime I choose to wear my hair naturally wavy rather than straightening it, so I know I will get good use out of this. Also, this is a full size bottle that retails for $29! I normally would never spend that much on hair products, so this is really exciting!

So that it everything for my Ipsy bag this month. Comment and tell me what you got! Also, if you are not subscribed to Ipsy, you can do so by clicking my link here

Yankee Candle Haul

Along with my love of makeup I also have a love of candles, especially Yankee Candles. However, they are so expensive that I don’t get to buy them as much as I would like to. But twice a year, Yankee Candle has their semi-annual sale, where they have a TON of candles on sale for crazy cheap, like half off or more. So I went a little crazy, but I thought I would share with you what I picked up.

The Sprawl

I picked up 3 of the mini-jars to test out some of their summer scents. So far I am loving Vineyard, but can’t wait to smell the others.

I had to get this one because it is so pretty and summery. It is a layered candle so it’s like three candles in one.

I can’t believe the large jars are only $13.99, when normally they are $27.99. This one smells so good, like a hot cup of tea.

I love Yankee Candle’s pure radiance line. The candles all smell amazing and also, they have wooden wicks that crackle when they are lit. This scent is in Pearlescent, a clean scent that smells exactly like Dove Bar soap, which is pretty much why I bought it. It is next to me lit as I write this, and it smells incredible. Definitely a new favorite.

This isn’t a candle, but an air freshener. I bought this to go in the downstairs bathroom in my house, and the scent, Bahama Breeze, smells fruity and delicious.

This is another large jar. Fresh scents are my favorite, and this one smells so fresh and a touch floral.

This is a special edition of Vineyard, which is my sister’s favorite candle.

I picked up a car jar in Home Sweet Home, which is my all time favorite Yankee Candle scent, as well as two tarts in Lucky Shamrock and Sunflower for my tart burner.

Makeup Wishlist

So for a few weeks I have been trying to avoid buying makeup, because I went a little overboard last time I went shopping.Since I am home for summer break, I left a lot of my nannying clients back in Pennsylvania, so there goes my income. However, that does not mean I don’t have plans for any money that will come my way in the future, once I start getting some steady work. Here are the latest beauty products that I have been drooling over.

1.) theBalm Mary-Lou-Manizer

mary luminizer

Everybody has been talking about this highlighter, but I honestly didn’t give it much thought until I saw my friend Blaise wearing it. It was so pretty I honestly could not stop staring. It was the most beautiful champagne color. I knew it had to be mine.

2.) Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

naturl matte

This palette recently came out from Too Faced along with the Sugar Pop Palette, and it was between those two when I was deciding which to get. I ended up choosing the Sugar Pop Palette, which I seriously love. But I still want this one, too! I am a huge fan of matte shadows, especially in natural colors, and am always looking to add some to my collection, so this is a must for me.

3.) Benefit Hervana

I’ve been thinking about this ever since I swatched it at Sephora a few weeks ago. With the colors all swirled together, it was the prettiest lilac-pink color. Also, I’ve been wanting to buy some more Benefit boxed powders ever since I got my Hoola Bronzer, which I love.

4.) Nars Audacious Lipstick in Barbara

It seems like everyone has been raving about these Audacious lipsticks lately, and I really want to see what all of the fuss is about. Also, this tan-rose color looks like it would be right up my alley. However, I don’t think I would be able to justify spending $32 on a lipstick when I already have so many, so this one might have to wait until Christmas. 😦

5.) L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal

I’ve been wanting this since one blogger said it was the only concealer she has ever used that doesn’t crease. I have the same problem, and even when I set immediately with powder, my concealer always seems to settle in to the lines under my eyes. Anything that can fix that is something I need in my life. Anyway, it is so cheap that I might just go for it.

I Do My Best Friend’s Makeup

Lately I’ve been going through a phase where I have been asking everyone I come in contact with if I can do their makeup, which I know is crazy annoying. Luckily for me, my best friend Taylor (Who by the way has an amazing blog) happily obliged. I am no expert, but I had fun doing it. Keep scrolling to see the look I came up with.

A fresh-faced Taylor

Brushes I used From left to right: Real Techniques Sponge, Elf Complexion Brush, Elf Powder Brush, Real Techniques Blush Brush, Elf Concealer Brush, Elf Professional Blending Brush, Elf Professional Brow Comb and Brush, It Brushes for Ulta Blending Crease No. 105, Elf Small Precision Brush, Elf Blush Brush

Step One: I started out by putting Lancome’s Tonique Confort Comoforting Toner all over Taylor’s face using a cotton round. This toner is moisturizing and calms redness, getting the skin ready for makeup application

Next I applied Benefit The Porefessional, a creamy pore minimizing primer, so the foundation would apply nice and smooth

The primer is best applied using your fingers

After priming, it was time for foundation. I used Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in Ivory, which was a little light for her skin, but I made it up with some bronzer later. I applied the foundation using the Real Techniques Sponge, which has been a game changer for me. It is so easy to use and applies foundation very evenly. Way better than a foundation brush in my opinion.

My much loved CoverGirl. Full coverage and last all day.

IMG_4289Bahh! She looks ghostly here! Don’t worry, it gets better.

Next, I started on the eye makeup. I primed her Eye Lids with Elf Shadow Lock Eye Shadow Primer, which is a decent primer for the price.

Then, Whipped out my handy Naked Palette. The good ol’ Original.

I wanted to create a simple look using my favorite color for eye shadow as the main focus; Gold.

First, using my It for Ulta #105 Crease Brush, I mixed the colors Buck and Naked buffed them in windshield wiper motions into her crease to give the eye depth, and as a transition shade for the other colors.

                                                                         FullSizeRender (5) FullSizeRender (8)

Buck and Naked, two great matte crease shades

I then took Half Baked, one of my favorite eye shadows of all time, on my Elf Essential Eyeshadow Brush (Not Pictured), and pressed it all over the lid. I really packed the color on there, dipping my brush in the shadow several times for intense color.

FullSizeRender (6)

                                         IMG_4293 IMG_4302

It should look something like this at this point.

Next, I took Smog on my Elf Blending Brush, and added it to the outer third of her eye and brought it up to the crease ever-so slightly.

FullSizeRender (7)

Using my Elf Small Precision Brush, I added Virgin to the inner corner of her eyes to brighten, and popped sin on the center of the lid to add a pop of light using my Elf Concealer brush, which is small and perfect for this step. While I was at it, I applied Virgin to her brown bone to highlight.

I then had Taylor apply my Rimmel Eye Definer on herself, because I knew I would colossally screw it up. Her eyelashes are already so long that she only needed a swipe or two of Maybelline Lash Discovery Mascara to complete this eye look.

                                       IMG_4319 IMG_4320

The finished eye look: a beautiful, wearable gold. Also, majorly jealous of her lashes! And now…. time to finish the face!

I skipped under eye concealer, because Taylor is blessed enough not to have dark circles like someone (cough, cough)

I applied some translucent Rimmel Stay Matte Powder to set all of the foundation from earlier, and to give her makeup a matte finish.

I then warmed up her face with one of my favorite bronzers, Benefit Hoola, which is a perfect matte shade. I put the bronzer around her hairline, on the hollows of her cheeks, underneath her jaw bone, and on the sides of her nose. This step took a while, since the foundation was a little too pale for Taylor’s tanned skin. I applied Hoola using my Elf Complexion brush, which is my favorite brush to apply bronzer with.

Warming up that face!

Then, I lightly applied some Too Faced Sweethearts blush in Candy Glow. I only needed a little as Taylor’s face has natural red undertones.  I used my Real Techniques Blush Brush to apply this.

IMG_4353To finish off the face I applied Too Faced Candlelight Glow Duo on her cheekbones to highlight. I applied it using my Elf Blush Brush, which I find too small for Blush but perfect for applying high-lighter.

IMG_4322IMG_4321  IMG_4323

Then, last but not lest, lip color!

I used Elf Mineral Lipstick in Ripe Rose, and topped it with Ulta Brilliant Color Lip Gloss in the shade 06

And (Drum roll please….)

The Finished Look!

Drugstore Makeup Haul & Reviews

So, I’ve been bad lately, and my wallet hates me for it. I hate me for it a little too if we’re being honest. But in my defense, Ulta was having a 40% discount on Maybelline and Revlon, so I felt just a little more justified in my purchases. And if that wasn’t enough, I decided to also hit up the cosmetics aisle at CVS, and there wasn’t even a sale to justify this kind of spending. Anyway, I will not disclose the amount that I spent, but it was enough, I’ll just put it this way. I will share with you what I got along with some mini reviews on the products I have tried out so far.

1.) Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

I think that this was the first thing that I picked up. I had been looking for good drugstore primer, and I noticed that a lot of my favorite beauty YouTubers had been using it a lot. I didn’t really know what to expect, but when I got home and tested it, it was a clear, ointment like texture that almost melts into your skin an ends up having a kind of wet-to-dry effect. I usually do not like clear primers because I usually feel like I am just rubbing globs of grease onto my skin, but this doesn’t feel heavy or greasy and it makes my foundation go on smoother and makes my pores a little less visible, which is a plus!

2.) Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye shadow in Inked in Pink and Barely Branded

IMG_4243 I admit that I have never owned and of the Color Tattoo shadows, but I have heard great things about them. I have also heard that they are a dupe for Mac Paint Pots, and since I definitely don’t own any of those, I decided to pick these up while they were on sale.  I chose Barely Branded because I have heard that it is a great base for priming your lids, as well as an easy all-over lid color. It is a very pretty light gold champagne color. Inked in Pink is a light metallic pink color, that also works well as an all-over lid color. The main reason I chose this color was because I thought that it would be a beautiful color underneath my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, as it would enhance the pink colors in the palette. The formula for these are creamy and melt onto your eyelid, where they quickly dry down to a shiny metallic finish They are EXTREMELY long wearing, so much so that I find them slightly difficult to remove, which I consider to be a plus, because they will not fade mid-day like some of my powder shadows tend to.

3.) L’Oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer

magic lumi

I tried this once years ago when it first came out, but I forgot what it was like and wanted to give it another go, and I’m happy that I did. This primer is meant to give your skin a bright, dewy effect and I find that it does. I wear this under a light coverage foundation and my skin looks really glowy and pretty. This primer looks like liquid pearl, if that were a thing, and blends on nice and sheer. It gives your skin a fresh dewy look and also primes your skin nicely for foundation application.

Here is the product swatched before blending. So pretty!

4.) NYC Sun n’ Bronze Bronzing Powder in Hampton’s Radiance

I heard about this product, guess where…. YouTube! YouTube makes me buy a lot of stuff. This is a bronzer that is perfect for people with lighter complexions who want to have a healthy glow without looking orange. It goes on very light and subtle and blends very well. It would be a great option if you get really pale in the winter like I do, as it gives a very believable tan. This product has a slight shimmer to it, which is actually quite flattering.  Also, it was crazy cheap, maybe only $4 if I remember it correctly, so you should give it a try!

5.) Maybelline The Mega Plush and The Falsies Mascaras

I am constantly on the hunt for a really great drugstore mascara. I just haven’t found one that I absolutely LOVE yet, and I’m hoping that one of them will be a winner. I chose Mega Plush because I tend to like volumizing mascaras, and the Falsies because I have heard so many people rave about it. I have not opened them yet because I have a few already open that I need to use up.

6.)  Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

I absolutely love these lip butters. I already have it in a few shades, but this one is by far my favorite. It is a beautiful peachy pink color, with some brown undertones. This shade would be flattering on all skin tones, and it is now one of the lipsticks I reach for the most, almost every day for the past few weeks. It has a light, moisturizing formula that feels comfortable on the lips. It also has a beautiful shimmer to it. Love this!

Peach Parfait

7.) Maybelline Lipstick in Lilac Flush

 IMG_4248 IMG_4250

So I’ve decided that Maybelline Lipsticks are definitely my favorite formula after buying this one, and I plan on picking up more. They are so rich and creamy, pigmented, and never feel dry on my lips. This color isn’t like anything that I own. It is a very light purple from their new pastel collection, and I was mainly attracted to it because Jourdan Dunn, one of my favorite models, was wearing this exact shade in the commercial. This is a great spring/summer lip color.

Lilac Flush

8.) Maybelline Lipstick in Brazen Berry

This is the same formula as the lipstick that I mentioned above but in a bright, purple color. It is crazy bold but I love it.

Brazen Berry

9.) Maybelline Master Hi-Light Hi-Lighting Blush in Pink Rose

Fist of all what is up with the name of this blush? Why do they spell highlighting like that? And who designed that ugly Hi-Light Logo? It looks like it would be on some industrial construction paint type of product. Okay weird rant over. This is a new blush from Maybelline, and they have several shades in this line, this one being Pink Rose. I seem to have a million blushes in this shade range, but one more really couldn’t hurt. I will admit that the cool mosaic design is what drew me in, but it’s actually a really nice blush. It is super pigmented, I’m talking crazy. Like you barely have to touch your brush to the product and you have just enough. I don’t know if all of the shades are like that, but if so, that is crazy good considering the price. It is very silky and blend-able, and not at all powdery. As for the highlighting aspect, it actually does give a nice sheen to your face, and you could even skip the actual highlighter if you were going for something more subtle. I wouldn’t mind picking up this blush in another color or two, as it adds a believable flush to  and is high-end quality for a much cheaper price.

10.) Wet N’ Wild Eye shadow Trios in Spoiled Brat, Walking on Egg Shells, and I’m Getting Sunburned

    spoiled bratwalking on eggshellssunburned

Left to right: Spoiled Brat, Walking on Eggshells and I’m Getting Sunburned

I am not going to review these now because I plan on doing a separate review on these trios at a later time. Stay tuned!

I hope you guys enjoyed this crazy-long post. Check back every day for something new!

Summer Chicken Risotto Recipe

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite weekends of the year. It feels like it is the official beginning of summer, and with that come lots of fresh, delicious ingredients that are at their best this time of year.  Here is a simple recipe for a delicious chicken and rice recipe with lots of gooey fresh mozzarella, and plenty of sweet tomatoes. I saw this recipe somewhere a few years ago, and I’m sure I have completely changed it since. This is basically just a simple summer dish that anyone can enjoy. It is as easy to make as it is delicious, and I will take you through it step by step.

You Will Need:

2 Tbsp Butter

2 1/2 Cup Chicken Broth

1 Cup Uncooked White Long Grain Rice

1/2 Onion, Chopped

1 Clove Garlic, Minced

2 Cups Cubed Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, Raw

16 Oz Cubed Fresh Mozzarella

1 1/2 Cup Cherry tomatoes, halved

1/4 Cup Fresh Shredded Basil

IMG_4201 IMG_4203 IMG_4206 IMG_4207 IMG_4216 IMG_4218

Tomatoes, Onions, Mozzarella, Chicken, Rice, and Broth

1.) Pre-heat oven to 400 Degrees Fahrenheit. Cut butter into several slices and place on the bottom of a 9×13 inch glass pan. Melt Butter in oven.

2.) In the pan, add the rice, chicken broth, onion, and garlic. Sprinkle salt and freshly ground pepper over top, and stir so ingredients are equally distributed. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 35 minutes.

IMG_4212It’s not looking so hot at this point, but it gets better, I swear!

Grinding that peppah!

3.) After baking, remove from oven, and add Mozzerella and chicken. Bake for an additional 5-10 Minutes, until the cheese is nice and melted. Top with the fresh basil right before serving.

Pretty sure fresh basil is the best thing on Earth.

Aaaaand you’re done! Isn’t it beautiful?

I served it with fresh steamed green beans and crusty Italian Bread.

The table looked so summery today, and what is better than fresh lilacs?

May 2015 Favorites!

Here are my beauty/non beauty favorites for the month of May

1.) Pacifica Malibu Lemon Blossom Body Wash

This. Stuff. Is. Amazing. I swear I had a spiritual experience the first time I used it. It has an amazing fresh lemon scent that is PERFECT for Summer and it really has me questioning my loyalty to Dove Body Wash. It lathers like crazy and is full of good stuff like Aloe, Cucumber, and Pomegranate. This one is a winner.

2.) Study of Pose Book, By Coco Rocha and Steven Sebring

IMG_4166So when I saw that Coco Rocha was coming out with a book, I knew I had to have it. Coco Rocha is a supermodel, best known for her work in the early 2000s. She appeared in Vogue magazine countless times and was a favorite of photographer Steven Meisel, and her career basically was and has continued to be fire, and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with her. Coco is the undisputed queen of posing in the modeling industry, and this behemoth of a book features 1,000 (yes, 1,000) stunning black and white photos of Coco doing what she does best. It is a beautiful study of the human body, and Coco Rocha has a spectacular one, even after recently giving birth to the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.

Study Of Pose is available at

3.) Smashbox Travel-Size Full Exposure Palette

IMG_4172FullSizeRender (3)I had been wanting the Smashbox Full Exposure palette for sooooo long, but I really could not justify spending $52 on yet another neutral eye shadow palette (Double Exposure Palette, I’m coming for you). But this little guy was so convenient! It is literally the size of a credit card, and it has little mirror that is perfect for on the go. At less than half the price of the full palette, it’s a steal. This was a great idea from Smashbox. It comes with four buttery matte shades and 4 sheer shimmery shades.

Those are my favorites for May. Please comment and share!

Meeting Miranda Sings

So something kind of cool happened to me recently. And I don’t really say that very often. For Christmas, my dear cousin Clare was gifted two tickets to a live performance of her favorite You Tuber, the one, the only, Miranda Sings. For those of you who don’t know Miranda Sings (What, are you living underneath a rock?) she is a YouTube sensation by the name of Colleen Ballinger, an extremely talented singer and human being. Miranda is her alter-ego of sorts. She is a goofy, wacky character of a person whose original purpose was to poke fun at the thousands of deluded teenage girls who upload videos of themselves singing horribly off-key cover versions of their favorite pop songs on YouTube. These parody videos of Miranda took off, and now Colleen has millions of subscribers who tune in daily to hear her crazy rants, nonsense, and intentionally horrible covers of popular songs, such as Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off (Shout out to my girl Tay).

I didn’t think about Miranda again for a while until my little sister, Juliet came up to visit me while I was in school in Pennsylvania in April. She must have showed me over a thousand YouTube videos of hunky Britsh boys goofing around for views, as well as a few of Miranda. It was at this time that I first really watched her, and I had the utmost respect for her unabashed weirdness, a weirdness I wish I could emulate.

Clare had been planning on attending the event, which was a “concert” followed by a meet and greet, with her mother, who had to back out due to some last minute plans. She needed an adult to accompany her to the event, and I was already consoling my disappointment when it once again dawned on me that I am an adult, something I easily forget. So the following Sunday, we hopped on a train in Jersey and Headed for Westbury, New York.

It was a great day, despite the fact that an Iggy Azalea song played in the train station, in the car, and a the concert. I was surrounded by tweens, all in a mad frenzy as they were about to meet their idol. I felt a little guilty, that I, a new fan, had the coveted meet and greet passes, but I wasn’t going to give them up easily. Miranda put on a show that was as weird as I wished it could be. There was lots of crazy dancing, participation from over-zealous audience members, and references to videos that I had not yet seen. Afterwards, the VIP ticket holders were asked to wait in their seats, and I sat with an air of superiority about me as my lesser peers were forced to leave the auditorium. She did a Q&A with the crowd, and then we got to go up one by one and take a picture with Miranda/Colleen, who basically stayed in character the whole time. It was weird, and she was weird, but you have to admire someone who is that devoted to her craft.

One of my favorite parts of the day was getting to see Clare with Miranda. She was so excited.

You might now be able to tell here, but Miranda is super-beautiful

I took a selfie with Miranda’s adorable sister, Rachel. Rachel had me take the picture several times before she was satisfied that she looked cute enough. I hear ya girl.
