My June Ipsy Bag

It’s that time of the month again! Time to see what I got in my June Ipsy bag. I actually really like my bag this month. From left to right:

The actual bag is a black bag that has Ipsy Printed on it all over, and a pink zipper. It’s nothing special, but I can always use more makeup bags!

The first thing that I got was Keratherapy Keratin infused Daily Smoothing Cream. This is meant to straighten your hair when you blow dry it. I’m sure it is a great product,  but since I don’t blow dry my hair, I will probably give it to my sister.

The next thing that I got was a J.Cat Lipitude 24/7 Hydrating Lipstain in the Shade Blow Your Mind. I have never heard of this brand before, but when I swatched it the product looked creamy and very pigmented in the prettiest rosey pink color.

I was most excited to receive the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, since I have heard loads about this product for years. I haven’t tried it yet but I hope I love it

Next, I got a Dr. Brandt Pores no More Vacuum Cleaner Blackhead Extractor Mask (what a mouthful). I was excited to try this because like many others, I tend to get lots of pesky little blackheads on my nose. I tried this out, and although it didn’t fully extract the blackheads, it did a really good job of loosening them up.

I also got a Trestique Mini Shadow Crayon in the shade Venetian Gold. This is also a new brand for me, but it is the most gorgeous gold color, and I can picture myself using this a lot when I am in a hurry and just need a quick swipe of eye shadow.

So that’s it for this month’s bag. Do you subscribe to Ipsy? If so, what did you get?

Thoughts on Maybelline The Colossal Chaotic Lash Mascara

FullSizeRender (10)

So I think by now we have all heard about the Maybelline Chaotic Lash Mascara, and love it or hate it, it might actually be becoming a thing. It is meant to clump your eyelashes for a dramatic, messy look. I have always kind of liked clumpy, spidery mascara, so I thought this was a fun concept, even if it is a little out there. I appreciate that this look isn’t for everyone, but I believe that makeup is meant to be fun, and I think that  this product is a fun idea.  Overall, it made me lashes look spidery, and definitely very dramatic.

You are meant to apply it like a regular mascara, and then tease your lashes by moving the brush across the lash line in a vertical motion. When you leave out the second step, it actually makes a really nice, normal mascara.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade Review

As I tweeted today, my eye brows have been a life long struggle. Lately, however, I seemed to have found a groove that has worked for me. Years of over-plucking have taken a toll on my brows, and has made it difficult for me to get the bold, Cara Delevingne eyebrows of my dreams. I have finally found a product that helps me accomplish this dream, and that is the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade.

For those of you who don’t know, Anastasia Beverly Hills is a company that has recently received a lot of attention as the go-to brand for those seeking flawless brows. They are well known for their Brow-Wiz, which is their eyebrow pencil. However, as I previously stated, I have been wanting a bolder look, and that is what the Pomade gives you. At $18 for 0.14 oz, it is not unreasonably priced, and you need to use so little at a time that I have a feeling this container will last me forever.

I applied it using my Elf Small Angled brush, but any angled brush should work. This product is especially good for filling in sparse areas as well as shaping your eyebrows. I would recommend this product to someone who likes a bolder, slightly more dramatic look when it comes to their eyebrows.

The products is a smooth, waxy type of texture that applies like a paint. However, unlike a wax, it is much more pigmented, and a little goes a long way.

The best part about this product is the color choices. I have found it nearly impossible to find a brow product that is the right color for my eyebrows. My eyebrow hair is cool and ashy, and most products seem to pull slightly red, which looks very unnatural on me. The color I chose, Ash Brown, looks exactly like it sounds.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade comes in 11 shades, so there is one for pretty much every hair color. I highly recommend this product for anyone seeking bold, defined, perfect brows!

Here is a demonstration of the product on my eyebrows. What do you think? What is your favorite eyebrow product?

My Trip to New York City

Hi everyone! So as you may know, I just got back from a four day trip to New York City. I thought it might be fun to share with you some of the things I did and some of the experiences that I had.

I am lucky enough to have met an amazing family while in college in Pennsylvania who I nanny for, and they asked me to come on vacation with them to New York City to help out with their two kids, who are 11 and 13. I am so grateful for this opportunity, because without them I would never have gotten to go on this trip and do so many fun things!

Since I am home in Connecticut for the summer, I hopped a train into the city to meet up with everyone, as they were driving from their home in PA. I take the train a lot when traveling back and forth from PA to CT, so I know pretty well how to navigate the trains and the city. I love the hustle of Grand Central Station, and one of my favorite feelings in the world is when I have a few moments to just walk the city by myself and take it all in. Manhattan is truly one of my favorite places. When I arrived Thursday afternoon, it was blazing hot outside, and I walked to my hotel, enjoying the city while simultaneously dying of heat stroke.  The hotel we were staying at was the Langham Hotel, which I had never heard of. It is located on 5th Avenue, which is a particularly ritzy part of Manhattan. I had no idea how fancy this hotel was going to be. It was completely gorgeous and insane, and I know I probably will never have the pleasure of staying somewhere this amazing again in my life. I truly felt like a queen.  When I met up with the family, we went to our Suite, which was HUGE. It was very modern, and I was most excited about the huge, beautiful rain shower in the bathroom.

That night, the kids and I stayed in the Hotel and chilled while the parents went to a Broadway show. I was more than happy to stay in because I was exhausted from my trip that day, and I just wanted to relax and enjoy the beautiful hotel. Also, we got to order room service, which is something that I have never done before. It was quite the treat.

My fancy room service dessert

The next day, we walked around 5th Avenue, which was almost too much for me to handle. Anyone who knows me knows that I am absolutely obsessed with high fashion, and I was able to go into Chanel, Valentino, Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana. I saw so many beautiful things, and it was really fun to look around.

IMG_4539[1]Burberry, Chanel, Miu Miu. The Holy Land

The next thing that happened was my favorite part of the trip. I knew that were going to see the Broadway show Finding Neverland on Saturday, and I had mentioned how much I had wanted to meet one of the stars of the show, Kelsey Grammar. But it was only Friday, so I didn’t really think too much of it. For those of you who don’t know, Kelsey Grammar is a famous actor who was on the show Cheers in the 80s, and on the very successful spin off, Frasier. I know him because he had a two episode arch on my favorite show ever, 30 Rock, where he played himself, and they are my favorite episodes of the show ever. Also, he was a voice actor in my favorite childhood movie, Anastasia and he just seemed like a really cool, funny guy and I really thought it would be cool to meet him. While I was looking around Bergdorf Goodman, which is a high end department store, Judy came up to me and said the Kelsey Grammer was right across the store. I was so excited! It was like meeting Bradley Cooper all over again, and I knew I had to say something. I went up to Kelsey and told him that I just wanted to say that I was a fan of his, and that his episode of 30 Rock was my all time favorite and that I quote it all the time. He was really nice to me, and told me he was so happy that I came to talk to me. He asked me my name and if I wanted a picture. He put his arm around me and we took an epic selfie. He was the nicest guy and meeting him was so much fun. I told him I was coming to see his Broadway show the next day and he was so happy. As he was leaving the store he said “Bye Becky, so you around.” And I was just so happy. Kelsey Grammar is one cool guy.

The one and only Kelsey Grammar

The next day we went to see Finding Neverland, which is a new Broadway show that is about the man who wrote Peter Pan. The lead actor in the show was Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schue from Glee) and he was so great, and so was my main man Kelsey, who plays Hook. The show was magical, and the kids loved it too.

IMG_4551[1]After the show, we all went to dinner the fanciest restaurant I have ever been too, which was really fun. It was the best food I’ve ever had, and I am not even going to disclose how expensive it was. After dinner, we did some shopping in Times Square.  We went to the Disney Store, which is one of my favorite places because I am absolutely obsessed with Disney. Then I did some makeup shopping at MAC and we called it a night.

The last day, we decided to go to the Statue of Liberty. We took a ferry over to Liberty Island, and there she was. You have to take an elevator up to the pedestal, and then you have the choice of climbing up to her crown, which I would equate to climbing Mount Everest. Like, seriously, there were so many steps and it was this absurdly small, tight, spiral staircase.

When I finally got to the top, there really wasn’t much to see and I was literally up there for 30 seconds before I went back down. When I got down and went outside and saw the statue, I couldn’t believe I had climbed that high. It wasn’t really worth it, since you couldn’t see much from inside, but I guess it’s cool to say that I did it. It was basically the most American thing I have ever done. My legs are still aching terribly two days later.

The view from the bottom

Once we got back to Manhattan, I got on a train and got home later that night. I had such a fun, memorable trip, and I hope to go back soon. Until next time!

NYC Goodies: MAC and Chanel

I’m back! I had a wonderful time in New York, and before I share with you all the details of my trip, I thought I’d share some of the beauty things I picked up while I was in the city. I didn’t have much time to go shopping, since I was technically working, but I did have time to pop into the Chanel Boutique and the MAC store in Times Square. IMG_4608[1]

MAC Pigment in Old Gold

I knew exactly what I wanted before I went into the MAC Store. As expected, it was completely packed, and I could barely move. But luckily, there was a lovely saleswoman who helped me find everything I wanted and navigated the crowds for me. I knew I wanted the MAC pigment in Old Gold, because Tanya Burr wore it in one of her videos and I was absolutely obsessed. It is the most brilliant yellow-gold shade, with the slightest tint on green, just like tarnished gold. I bought the mini one because I knew that I would never use up a whole pigment.

Look at how beautiful that is!

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle

Next, I got the Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle. I’ve wanted this guy for so long! It seems like everyone in the beauty community has and loves this product.  It is a beautiful bronze color with streaks of gold through out. I like how versatile it is. It can be used as a light bronzer, a highlighter, and eyeshadow, or just an all over veil on the face for a gorgeous glowing look.

MAC Lipstick in Twig

IMG_4613[1]I’ve heard a lot about Twig and Mac Lipsticks in general, and I thought it was time that I tried one. Since I am no wear near a MAC store, I knew that this was my best oppurtunity to get one. The lipsticks come in several different finishes, and this is a Satin. It is a beautiful pinkish brown red, that would definitely be flattering on everyone. The formula is silky and long lasting, and comfortable on the my lips. I have to get more.

MAC Lipstick in Twig

Chanel and Bergdorf’s

Now, I didn’t actually buy anything in these two stores because it was just a little out of my price range, but the woman I nanny for, Judy, gave me all of her lovely samples that she recieved with purchase. I was basically drooling over all of the beautiful lipsticks and eyeshadows and perfumes in Chanel, and although I knew I wasn’t going to get anything, it was still fun to look.

IMG_4612[1]I got this sample of Le Volume De Chanel Mascara, which is really nice. It makes my lashes long, but I don’t think it is special enough to pay full price. It is fun to say that I am wearing Chanel Mascara though!

Also at Chanel, I got two perfume samples. Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with perfume, and Chanel makes some of my favorite ever scents. Luckily, I was given samples of two perfumes that I don’t already own, so I was able to try out some new fragrances. Chanel has a line of perfumes called Les Exclusifs, and they are only sold at Chanel boutiques and I have been dying to smell them! I couldn’t believe I got a sample of 1932, one of the Exclusifs. I have not used it yet because I am saving it for something special, and I can’t wait to smell it. Also, they gave me a sample of Chance Eau Tendre. which is a really beautiful, wearable floral that anyone would love. At Bergdorf Goodman, I was given a sample of Chai de Robert Piguet, which is a scent that smells like green tea, and is really lovely.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I plan on doing a separate post all about my trip, so stay tuned! I would love to see your comments!

What’s in My Travel Makeup Bag: NYC Edition

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great week. So tomorrow I leave for four days to accompany the family I nanny for to New York City. I am lucky enough to live two hours away from the city, but I never actually went until December of last year, with the same family. It was a blast last time so I can hardly wait for our trip tomorrow. Here is everything I decided to bring with me on my trip!

The bag I am using is my Lisa Perry for Estee Lauder bag. I got this a couple of months ago as a free gift with purchase, and out of all of my many makeup bags, this one is my favorite. It is super cute, but also really deep and spacious so it holds a lot of products.

Speaking of Estee Lauder, I’m bringing my favorite foundation that I own, my Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth- Infusing Makeup. I chose to bring this one because I find it truly lasts all day, something I will need on a hot summer day in the city

I like to pair my liquid foundation with a powder one because it gives me extra coverage but also keeps my foundation looking fresh longer. I chose the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte and Poreless because the matte keeps oily skin at bay.

I am also bringing my Glamglow Mud Cleanser which I received in my Ipsy bag last month. I love this cleanser and it is the perfect size to travel with.

I am only bringing one eyeshadow palette with me, which is my Smashbox Mini Full Exposure palette. It is meant to be perfect for travel, as it comes in a thin, compact case. Also, I didn’t want to lug around my Naked palettes and risk damaging them, so this one should do the trick!

For blush I am only bringing my Mac Pro Longwear blush in Blush All Day. The packaging seems to be stable, so I don’t have to worry about shattering it. Also, I find this blush to be universally flattering with everything I wear, as it is a pretty tan rose color.

I decided to bring my Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara. It is brand new and I have only used it once. It is a very natural looking mascara, and I haven’t quite formed my opinion on it yet.

I am not sure if I am going to want to fuss with eyeliner, but if I do, I have my Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner, which is hard for even me to mess up. It has the most precise tip I have ever seen on eyeliner, so it makes doing a nice line on the go very easy.

I would be completely lost without my Elf Eyebrow Kit, so I am lucky that it is the perfect little compact to travel with. I have to keep my brows on fleek in case I run into Bradley Cooper again 😉

I would never consider going anywhere without Bronzer, so I am happy that I bought the Too Faced Bronzer Wardrobe, which came with 4 travel size deluxe bronzer samples. I chose to bring my sample of Endless Bronze, because it is a long lasting formula, and I definitely won’t have time to retouch my bronzer because I will be crazy busy all day. Each Bronzer sample comes in a little paper and plastic case, and it’s super tiny so it doesn’t take up much space. I wanted to bring my Pink Leopard Bronzer, but couldn’t risk it getting shattered on the train.

The only highlighting product I am bringing is my Elf Baked Highlighter in the shade Moonlight Pearls. It is a gorgeous champagne highlight that I reach for all of the time, so I knew that it would be a safe bet to bring along.

Next, I am using my Nyx HD Concealer, which is a creamy concealer that is perfect for covering up dark circles, as well as highlighting the under eye area. I probably won’t be getting too much sleep, so I am going to count on this bad boy to make me look human in the morning.

I’m not only bringing one lip color (obviously), but the rest that I have are in my purse. For my makeup bag, I am just going to bring my trusted Ulta Brilliant Color Lip Gloss in the shade 06. It is a flattering berry color that has very buildable color, so you can go light or heavy, depending on the occasion.

Last but not least, I am bringing my mini Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. This is great for your face and body, so it is a perfect 2-in-1 travel product.

So I am going to be away from my computer for the next few days, so please don’t be offended if I don’t respond to your comments right away. I hope you all have a good week, and I can’t wait to tell you all about my trip when I get back. Bye for now!

5 Under $5: Beauty Products I Love for Under $5

If you are like me, you can’t always afford to buy all of the expensive makeup that you desire. So, it’s always great when you find an amazing product for an affordable price. I put together a list of five exceptional beauty products that you can get for under $5. What’s better than that?

1.) Nivea Creme- $0.99

This all over body creme is a must. The formula has been around since 1911, and I can see why it is so popular. It is crazy-thick, nourishing, and smells like roses. It is great to use on your cuticles, too. Also, it’s only 99 cents! You can find little tins of this creme in the travel section of Target.

2.) Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipsticks, $4.43IMG_4450[1]

For such a huge Kate Moss fan, it sure took me a while to finally pick up one of her lipsticks, part of a collection for Rimmel. I’m glad I finally did. There is a nice selection of beautiful colors, all in creamy, long-wearing formulas. I particularly like the shade I purchased, 80, which is a “your lips but better” type of mauve. It has now become one of my go to lip colors.  You can buy this at Target.

80, Swatched

3.) E.L.F. All Over Color Stick in Spotlight, $1.00

This is a great stick cream highlighter. It is a beautiful pearlescent white shade with just a hint of champagne shimmer. It looks great on cheekbones or to highlight the brow bone, but also works as an all over cream eyeshadow when you are in a hurry. You can get this on or at Target.

Spotlight, swatched

4.) Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. $4.94

A great foundation under $5 is truly hard to find, but this one is definitely it! Instead of spending $12 on another drugstore foundation, I recommend giving this one a try. The formula is a thick mousse that is easily blended, and gives medium to full coverage. And, the finish is very matte, so it is perfect for people who tend to get shiny sink partway through the day. The only complaint I have is that the color selection is minimal, so it might be hard for some people to find their perfect shade.

5.) Wet n’ Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner, $2.99

I keep going back to this liquid eye-liner. It might just be because I have been using it for years, but I find this one is easy to apply, as far as liquid eye liners go. The line is always dark, and has a lacquer finish. You can purchase this at any drugstore.

Too Faced Sugar Pop Palette Review

FullSizeRender (5)

Today I thought I would do a review for you guys. Too Faced recently released their Sugar Pop Palette, which is a limited edition release for Summer.  The palette contains nine candy inspired shadows, only one of which is truly matte. It comes in small metal mirrored case, adorned with adorable macarons. The packaging on this is definitely A+. It is bright and eye catching, and totally matches the shadows inside.

FullSizeRender (6)

This palette has an interesting shade selection. Some of the colors look like they would not work together, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. I am normally a person who only wears natural eye shadows, but I found myself wanting to experiment a little more with colors. I think that this palette is perfect for those who want to try some fun colors but don’t want to go too far out of their comfort zone. With this palette, you can do a full-out crazy color look, or do mostly neutral with a pop.

FullSizeRender (7)

A look inside the palette. Blackberry is completely matte, and the others have shimmer.FullSizeRender (8)

From Left to Right:

Rock Candy– A light, shimmery cream color, with some orange undertones. This makes a great base color as well as inner corner highlight and brow bone highlight. Pigmented and Blendeable

Macaron– A beautiful electric blood orange color. One of my favorites in the palette

Malted Milk Ball– This is the only disappointment of the whole palette. It is a beautiful glittery brown color, but unfortunately, it is essentially unusable as there is so much fallout, and it is not very pigmented.

Strawberry Ice– This is a truly unique color. It looks lavender in some light, but at other times it looks like a beuatiful shimmery light pink. It makes a great all over lid color.

Sugared Violet– A richly pigmented blue-purple. You have to pack on the color a bit to get the best pay off.

Blackberry Ice– This one is a little bit odd in relation to the other colors in the palette, but it is a buttery matte blackberry color.

Peach Fuzz- This color is pretty similar to Rock Candy, only it pulls a little more orange. It is very shimmery, blendeable and beautiful.

Bubblegum– A crazy-pigmented electric pink color. This color looks amazing paired with Blue Raspberry or Macaroon.

Blue Raspberry– This is BRIGHT blue that has some beautiful green undertones. It looks great paired with bubblegum, and also looks beautiful when packed in the outer corner of Peach Fuzz or Rock Candy.

All in all, this palette is a good value for the money. I find that the majority of them are very pigmented and easy to work with. The palette retails for $36. There are a lot of fun combinations that can be made with these shadows, and all of the colors are perfect for summer. If you are looking for a summer palette, this one is certainly worth consideration. My only regret is the Malted Milk Ball shade, but I still think that the Sugar Pop Palette is a worthy investment.

I would love to hear anybody else’s thoughts on this palette or anything else for that matter. Please leave a comment.

What’s in My Gym Bag/My Workout Playlist

So Taylor and I finally decided to join a gym. Because…it was time. I’ll leave it at that. Anyway, since I’ve been working out every day and really getting into it, I thought I would show you what was in my gym bag, and also the music I rock out to whenever I’m there!

What’s in my gym bag?

1.) My gym pass to Snap Fitness- So far I really like this gym. Lot’s of machines and a nice environment to work out in.

2.) Victoria’s Secret Amber Romance Fragrance Mist- I need to smell fresh when I leave the gym, and this amber fragrance is light and smells so good.

3.) Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. I’m always a sweaty mess when I leave the gym, and these Simple Wipes are really refreshing and cleanse my face very well. Also they are Unscented, so they are great for sensitive skin. These wipes also make great makeup removers.

4.) Tresemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo-  My hair gets kind of greasy after a long workout, and this guy absorbs oil and leaves my hair feeling fresh and clean until I can get a shower and do it right!

5.) Bottled Water. Duh.

6.) Sure Unscented Deodorant- My Body is really weird with deodorant. I will use one for months, and then that brand suddenly will stop working for me. Right now I’ve been using Sure Invisible Solid Unscented, and I love it.  I seriously don’t sweat at all when I wear it, and I prefer unscented because for some reason the scent of deodorants irritate me.

7.) Skull Candy Ear Buds- I am not sure of the make and model of these, but I got them at Marshalls for half the price they normally retail for. They have great, clear sound and block out any outside noise, so I can just focus on my music.

Speaking of music, here is the music that really gets me going when I work out! If you love music as much as I do, you should check these out! All songs can be found on Spotify

1.) Lovecraft in Brooklyn- The Mountain Goats

2.) Bulletproof- La Roux

3.) First- Cold War Kids

4.) Oh No!- Marina and the Diamonds

5.) Dog Days are Over- Florence and the Machine

6.) Black Skinhead- Kanye West

7.) Kokayne- Riff Raff

8.) Lonely Boy-The Black Keys

9.) Can’t Hold Us Down-Christina Aguilera Featuring Lil Kim

10.) Punching in a Dream- The Naked and Famous
